Add the Shelta 270 Wall Kit ($480) and your whole order ships free within Australia.
The Shelta 270 wraps about 11.4m² of shade around the side and back of your vehicle in one swing. It's freestanding, so it holds itself out without poles, and its 2.5m arms give it more reach than most 270-degree awnings.
Out in seconds
Unzip the PVC bag, swing the awning out on its hinge and the arms follow. The frame holds it up on its own, with no poles needed in calm weather.
Poles for wind and walls
- A drop-down pole is attached to one of the arms, and three telescopic poles are also supplied. Put them up and peg them when the breeze builds, and whenever the optional Wall Kit is fitted.
- Any 270 awning acts like a sail in wind, so don't leave it out unsupported if there's a risk of gusts or you're leaving it unattended.
- Four standard pegs and adjustable guy ropes are supplied; screw-in (sand) pegs aren't, but we recommend them on sand or loose ground.
Canvas and rain
- 280gsm ripstop poly-cotton canvas.
- Three fold-up props on the arms lift the canvas so rain runs off rather than pooling.
- A magnetic weather gutter seals across the back of the vehicle.
Fitting
Three L-brackets are supplied to suit most roof racks. Fit two at the rear to support the hinge and one towards the front. As with any 270 awning, the rear pivot carries more twisting load than the front, so make sure your roof rack is up to it. Choose the left-hand (passenger) or right-hand (driver's) version to suit the side you want it on.
For a fully enclosed room, add the Shelta 270 Awning Wall Kit.

Shelta 270 Freestanding Awning
Magnetic Gutter
The Shelta 270 has a magnetic gutter that runs across the back of the vehicle for extra protection at the rear.
Support/Wind Poles
The Shelta 270 comes with a drop-down pole attached to one arm, plus three telescopic poles. You don't need them to hold the awning up in calm weather, because the awning is freestanding. Any 270° awning catches the wind like a sail, so put the poles up and peg them if there's a risk of gusts, if you're leaving the awning unattended, or when the optional Wall Kit is fitted. Wind the awning in if the wind gets strong. Four standard pegs and adjustable guy ropes are supplied; screw-in (sand) pegs aren't, but we recommend them on sand or loose ground.
Fitment Brackets
The brackets suit most roof rack styles. We supply three L-brackets: fit two at the rear of the awning to support the hinge, and the third towards the front.
Like most 270° awnings, the rear pivot point carries more twisting load than the front, so make sure your roof rack is up to the job. Mr Swagman takes no responsibility for incorrect fitting or any resulting damage to a vehicle.
Awning Wall Kit
Want more protection? The optional five-piece wall kit zips and Velcros into place to make a semi-enclosed area that blocks wind, rain and sun. Each wall also zips to the one next to it, so the walls hold together firmly.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Shelta 270 need poles?
Not in calm weather. It's freestanding: the frame holds it out on its own. A drop-down pole on one of the arms and three telescopic poles are supplied. Put them up and peg them if there's a risk of gusts, if you're leaving the awning unattended, or when the optional Wall Kit is fitted, because any 270 awning acts like a sail.
How long are the arms?
The arms are 2.5m long, which gives the Shelta 270 more reach than most 270-degree awnings.
What is the total shade coverage?
About 11.4m². The four 2.5m arms and the backing plate on the vehicle form four shaded panels that wrap around the side and back of your vehicle.
Which side do I need, left or right?
Choose the side you want it to open on: left-hand for the passenger side, right-hand for the driver's side.
Will it fit my roof rack?
Three L-brackets are supplied to suit most roof racks: two at the rear to support the hinge and one towards the front. The rear pivot carries more twisting load than the front, so make sure your roof rack is up to it.
How heavy is it?
25.5kg, including the three supplied brackets.
What canvas is it made from?
280gsm ripstop poly-cotton canvas. Three fold-up props on the arms lift the canvas so rain runs off rather than pooling, and a magnetic weather gutter seals across the back of the vehicle.
What's included?
The awning, three L-brackets and fitting kit, three telescopic poles, four standard pegs, adjustable guy ropes and a heavy-duty PVC cover. Screw-in (sand) pegs aren't supplied, but we recommend them on sand or loose ground.
Can I add walls?
Yes. The Shelta 270 Awning Wall Kit adds five zip and Velcro walls to turn it into an enclosed room. Order the same hand as your awning, and put up the support poles whenever the walls are on.
How much is delivery and where do you send?
We deliver anywhere in Australia, and shipping is free on orders of $1,500 or more. Below that, it's calculated at checkout from your address and the items in your order. Every delivery includes in-transit insurance, and we send with Australia Post, FedEx or DHL depending on the size and weight of your order.
Can I pick up my order instead?
Yes. Choose Pickup In-Store at checkout and collect your order from our store at 14 Cessna Street, Marcoola, on the Sunshine Coast. It saves the shipping cost.
Do you ship overseas?
Yes, for everything except awnings. International shipping is calculated at checkout, not including local import duties and taxes, which the receiver pays. For an overseas quote on an awning, email info@mrswagman.com.au or call +61 (0)7 5302 6954.
What's the warranty?
Every Mr Swagman product has a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects, such as stitching or a seam coming apart, or a zip, buckle or pole failing in normal use. It starts on the day you receive the product, and it's in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
Yes, within 30 days of receiving it, as long as it's unused and in its original packaging. Please contact us first. You pay the return freight, the original shipping cost isn't refunded, and a 5% restocking fee comes off your refund, which we process once the item is back with us and approved for resale. If anything arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, that's different: contact us and we'll sort it out under the Australian Consumer Law, with no restocking fee.
What should I do when my order arrives?
Check the box and the product for damage before you sign for it. If there's any damage, note it with the driver before signing, or refuse the delivery. Without that, we can't claim on the freight insurance.
