The Ultimate King Single is the swag we'd take on a long trip. It's a freestanding dome, so it holds its own shape without guy ropes, and it's built around the things that decide how well you sleep away from home: a thick mattress, room to sit up, and a shell that copes with rain, heat and bugs. Like every Mr Swagman swag, it's designed in Australia for touring and 4WD adventure.
Pitches in minutes, stands on its own
Shock-corded aluminium hoop poles go in at each end, then a folding spreader bar along the ridge tensions the lot. Once it's up you can pick it up and move it to flatter ground before you peg the corners. In wind, peg the stainless steel corner rings with the supplied pegs. A third hoop pole comes in the bag as a spare, so a bent or broken pole is a quick swap rather than the end of your trip.
Room to sit up

Rain, heat and insects

420gsm poly-cotton canvas in Stockman Brown, double stitched throughout.

500gsm PVC bucket floor that runs up the sides, so water on the ground stays outside.

Full-length roof rainfly included. It adds a second layer over the roof in long rain and stops water pooling.
- Full-length canvas and insect mesh doors on both sides, with storm flaps over the zips.
- Mesh windows at the head and foot under their own rain hoods, so you can leave them open for airflow in a wet-season downpour.
- Side doors prop open with the supplied poles for shade and a breeze on hot nights.
- A clip-on dual-skin canvas section for the centre of the roof is included. It adds a second layer of canvas over the middle of the swag.
An 80mm mattress
The mattress is 80mm thick: 30mm of egg-crate comfort foam over 50mm of high-density foam, in a removable canvas cover you can take off and wash. It's thick enough for gibber plains and rocky river beds as well as a grassy caravan park.
Packing up
It rolls into a heavy-duty PVC carry bag, 1000mm L × 480mm diameter. The bag is deliberately oversized, so you can leave your pillow and sleeping bag rolled up inside. Outside the door, a PVC ground flap gives you somewhere clean to stand once your boots are off.
