Awning Poles
Mr Swagman’s Shelta 270 awning comes with one attached, drop-down pole, plus three extra slot-in poles that can be used in adverse conditions. The poles are not required to hold the awning up – it is totally free-standing. The poles are recommended for holding the awning down during windy conditions, as your awning will act like a sail, so you should exercise caution to ensure your awning doesn’t flip over your vehicle in the wind. The windier it is, the more poles you should use to hold your awning down.
Each pole incorporates flip-out feet with dual peg down holes, in which you insert the included pegs. This double pegging method provides a great purchase point for keeping the poles down on the ground, negating the need for trip-hazard guy ropes. Hammer-in pegs are supplied, although screw-in pegs can be used if needed for an even great hold-down system. Tie down tags are also included as standard between each pole and arm, should you feel the need for extra security during adverse conditions.
Awning Wall Kits
Want even more protection? Consider investing in our optional six-piece wall kit, which can be easily zipped and velcro'd into position for a semi-enclosed area perfect for blocking out wind, rain, and sun. As well as zipping and Velcroing to the Mr Swagman Shelta 270 awning, each wall zips to the wall next to it for a sturdy attachment system.
Fitment Brackets
With our convenient fitment brackets designed to accommodate most roof rack styles, you can enjoy complete peace of mind wherever your adventures take you. We supply three L-brackets and recommend two of the brackets be fitted to the rear of the awning to provide support for the hinge mechanism, and the third bracket towards the front of the awning. Like most 270 degree awnings, the twisting at the rear pivot point is higher than the front of the awning, so care must be taken to ensure an adequate roof rack system is used.
